Mar del Plata Hums with Anticipation for Its 41st International Film Festival

This morning, the Espacio INCAA Chauvín hosted the first official event of the 41st edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival.
Officials from INCAA and the municipality, along with representatives from the private sector, gathered to formally kick off the countdown to November.
Under the motto “Where Argentine cinema engages with the world”, the Board of Directors and the official 2026 promotional spot produced by INCAA for the 41st edition of the Mar del Plata International Film Festival were officially unveiled.
The Board of Directors for this edition consists of Fernando Álvarez, President of Fundación Global; Florencio Aldrey, businessman; Diego Juárez, President of EMTURyC; Carlos Pirovano, President of INCAA; and Agustín Neme, Mayor of the General Pueyrredón District; several of whom were present and addressed the gathering.
Fernando Álvarez was the first to speak, expressing gratitude on behalf of the Foundation’s 150 member companies for being invited to participate “to revive the Festival and transform it into a key asset that will facilitate the city’s internationalization.”
Furthermore, the president of EMTURyC emphasized the festival’s role in shaping local cultural identity, adding that “it also generates economic activity, strengthens tourism, revitalizes the restaurant and hotel industries, and highlights our city’s enormous potential. Mar del Plata is naturally suited to host major events. Because when the world looks to cinema, it also looks to Mar del Plata.”
Carlos Pirovano, President of INCAA, noted: “I have seen few cities with the talent that Mar del Plata has. It is also quite striking how it doesn’t shine as brightly as it should. My theory is that they won’t let it. And the Festival is a great opportunity for it to shine.”
He also took the initiative, at the Mayor’s request, to form the board of directors “and coordinate with private companies to involve Mar del Plata in the festival. It must feel like its own.”
In closing, Neme emphasized the decision to “get involved and work to make it a great festival once again. We ask every sector of the city—the education system, industry, and the economy—to spread the word far and wide. Let’s get involved. Let’s make our presence felt. Mar del Plata has no limits, and we’re going to prove it with the festival.”
To wrap up, the official promotional spot produced by INCAA was premiered and will be distributed to promote the only Class A film festival in Latin America.
The 41st edition of the festival will take place from November 5 to 115,2026 in Mar del Plata. Submissions for national and international films are open until June 30. Filmmakers and production companies interested in submitting their works can do so through this website.
