After Nat?s death from dust pollution, her husband March discovers that her spirit has reincarnated in a vacuum cleaner. Disturbed by the recent appearance of another ghost?a deceased worker whose death shut down the family?s home-appliance factory?March?s relatives reject his unusual human-ghost relationship. To convince them of her good intentions, Nat offers to ?clean? the factory of evil spirits. A Useful Ghost is a fantastical comedy that blends absurdity with social critique, exploring love, memory, and the ghosts that inhabit everyday life.
